Promoting Full Equity: Creating Inclusive Chronic Disease Prevention Programs

Promoting equitable access to health promotion opportunities to underserved populations is a continual national public health priority. The ability to understand and integrate the needs of participants with a wide range of abilities is critical for anyone involved in the implementation of evidence-based health promotion programs. This workshop will be provided by staff from the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability and the Kentucky Inclusive Health Collaborative housed at the University of Kentucky Human Development Institute. It will cover foundational-level knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to adapt chronic disease prevention and management programs to make them available to participants with and without disabilities.

In support of improving patient care, the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists: To satisfy the requirements for renewal of certification for the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers (www.ncbde.org). CBDCE does not approve continuing education. The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers.

It is the responsibility of each participant to determine if the program meets the criteria for re-licensure or recertification for their discipline.
